What is the VetValor VA Disability Calculator?

The VetValor VA Disability Calculator is a free online tool that helps you estimate your combined VA disability rating and monthly compensation using the same calculation logic used by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Does the VA really calculate disability this way?

Yes. The VA uses a method known as the “whole person” theory, where each disability percentage is applied to the remaining, non-disabled portion of your rating. This calculator follows that same methodology.

Why don’t my disability percentages add up normally?

VA disability ratings are not added together like regular math. For example, two 50% ratings do not equal 100%. The VA combines ratings sequentially, which often results in a lower combined percentage than expected.

Does this calculator include the bilateral factor?

Yes. If you have paired disabilities (such as both knees, both arms, or both feet), the calculator applies the bilateral factor when applicable to produce a more accurate estimate.

Can I use this calculator if I have more than two disabilities?

Absolutely. You can enter multiple service-connected conditions, and the calculator will combine them correctly into a single VA disability rating.

Can this calculator estimate my monthly VA disability payment?

Yes. Based on your combined rating and eligible dependents, the calculator provides an estimated monthly VA disability compensation amount using current VA pay tables.

Does the calculator account for dependents?

Yes. You can include: a spouse, dependent children, dependent parents.
These are factored into the compensation estimate where applicable.

Is this calculator official or approved by the VA?

No. This is an unofficial estimation tool. While it uses official VA calculation rules and compensation tables, only the VA can issue an official disability rating or payment decision.

Will my actual VA rating always match this estimate?

Not always. This calculator provides a best-estimate based on the information you enter. Final ratings depend on VA medical exams, evidence, effective dates, and claim decisions.

Can I use this calculator before filing a VA claim or appeal?

Yes. Many veterans use the calculator to:

  • Understand how multiple ratings may combine
  • Estimate potential compensation
  • Plan financially before filing a claim or appeal

Is my information saved or shared?

No. The calculator does not store or share your personal information. All calculations are performed instantly based on what you enter.

Who should use this calculator?

This tool is helpful for:

  • Veterans exploring VA disability benefits
  • Veterans preparing to file or appeal a claim
  • Caregivers and advocates assisting veterans
